The ACS has multiple categories of membership available that correspond with the varying stages of one’s surgical career. Choose the membership category that is best for you and join today!

  • FellowApplicants for Fellowship must have been in practice for a minimum of one year and be board certified. The annual application deadline is December 1.
  • International FellowApplicants for International Fellowship must have been in practice for a minimum of three years and be board certified. The annual application deadline is December 1.
  • Associate Fellow membership is designed for early career surgeons who have less than six years in practice. Applications accepted year-round.
  • Resident membership is designed for surgical residents who are currently enrolled in an accredited training program focused in one of the 13 surgical specialties, as well as those who have completed an initial residency and are currently involved in surgical research or surgical fellowship programs. Applications accepted year-round.
  • Medical Student membership is available to medical students currently enrolled in accredited allopathic or osteopathic medical school in the United States, Canada, and international countries. Applications accepted year-round.
  • Affiliate membership is available to physicians and non-physicians who work as part of the operating room team, in the office environment, in research, in surgical education, or in a medical association. Applications accepted year-round.
