Three groups are responsible for formulating and implementing the policies of the College.
The Regents formulate policy and direct the affairs of the College.
The Governors act as the liaison between the Board of Regents and the Fellows.
Local ACS Chapters exert the College’s influence at the community level, with 65 in the US, two in Canada, and 46 in countries abroad.

Julie A. Freischlag, MD, FACS, FRCSEd(Hon), DFSVS, MAMSE, an esteemed vascular surgeon from Winston-Salem, NC, has been installed for a one-year term as the 102nd President of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Freischlag was installed on October 24 during a virtual Convocation ceremony that preceded the opening of the ACS Clinical Congress 2021.
