Apply to ACS Certificate in Applied Surgical Education Leadership Program

May 3, 2022

Applications are now being accepted for the ACS Certificate in Applied Surgical Education Leadership (CASEL). This unique program is designed for surgeon educators who are interested in improving their knowledge and skills as educational leaders and is worthwhile for all surgeons who have been in practice at least 2 years.

Accepted participants will be offered content and skill-building opportunities through a mentored, hybrid delivery model designed to enhance learning, retention, and application. The program includes didactic and enduring materials, independent work, online access, and large and small group interactions. Participants will complete an applied surgical education leadership project at their home institution under the guidance of a CASEL mentor, CASEL faculty, and ACS staff.

Space is limited to 25 participants, and the deadline for CASEL applications is Friday, June 3.

Submission of an individual project idea and CV is required as part of the application process. For those selected, the in-person kick-off will take place October 6–8, 2022, at ACS Headquarters in Chicago, IL. The program will continue for 6 to 8 weeks with supplemental online programming on scheduled evenings.

Details about the program can be found on the CASEL web page. For more information, contact acscasel@facs.org.
