On Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, the American College of Surgeons (ACS) partnered with NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center to host the 10th Inspiring Quality forum in New York. More than 160 guests attended the event, which was moderated by Fabrizio Michelassi, MD, FACS, Lewis Atterbury Stimson Professor and Chairman, Department of Surgery, Surgeon-in-Chief, NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, and featured a diverse set of health care leaders who presented and joined in a panel discussion on the importance of a data-driven approach to quality improvement. The forum highlighted programs such as the ACS National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP®) as examples of the important roles outcomes data and measurement play in improving patient care and reducing costs.
