Check Out Highlights for the Upcoming In-Person Surgical Simulation Summit and Register Today

The ACS will host the 16th annual Surgical Simulation Summit March 2-4, 2023 at the Swissôtel in downtown Chicago, IL - our first opportunity to gather as a community in person since 2019. Registration is open, and the deadline to register is February 16.

Program Highlights

There will be much to learn and experience at the conference, including these conference highlights

  • The Surgical Simulation Summit begins on Thursday, March 2 with the annual update from the ACS-AEI Consortium, followed by a keynote address.
  • The Keynote Address, delivered by Richard K. Reznick, MD, MEd, FRCSC, FACS, FRCSEd(Hon), FRCS(Hon), Professor and Dean Emeritus, Queen’s University, and President, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, will discuss the current state of scholarship and the evidence for the efficacy of simulation-based training.
  • A special panel complementing the Keynote Address will take a deeper dive into three specific domains of simulation training.  Panelists include Carla M. Pugh, MD, PhD, FACS; David A. Rogers, MD, FACS; and Dimitrios Stefanidis, MD, PhD, FACS.
  • The MORE Track Session, “Team R.E.S.P.E.C.T.”, will be offered on Thursday and explore concepts integral to teambuilding, including engagement, satisfaction, professional development, equity, communication, and trust.
  • On Friday afternoon, the ACS is excited to partner with the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) to explore how to advance simulation through collaboration with anesthesia, surgery, and quality improvement.
  • Scientific paper presentations, posters, and interactive workshops from our contemporaries will be available.
  • During meals and breaks, exhibitors will be available to demonstrate their latest simulators and models, and representatives from the ACS-AEI committees will be available during these times to discuss their projects and goals for 2023.
  • The meeting concludes on Saturday afternoon. Registration includes all meals, including a networking reception on Friday evening where you will mingle with colleagues old and new.
