Heidi Nelson, MD, FACS
Medical Director, ACS Cancer Programs
Each year, the American College of Surgeons Cancer Programs offers new products, services, and projects to support the many programs and professionals we serve. 2023 will be no exception. We just concluded robust discussions at Clinical Congress in San Diego and are finalizing key details for 2023 offerings. All new activities will be announced in the November and December issues of this Cancer Programs newsletter.
For certain in the coming issues, you will want to read more about the ACS Cancer Conference: Where Cancer Care Comes Together, March 1-4, 2023, in Atlanta. Save the date! We are delighted to share that the Cancer Conference will host important cancer conversations and educational materials for everyone, including physicians, cancer registrars, program coordinators and administrators, advance practice providers, and professionals from all specialties who care for patients with cancer.
We also plan to share details about two exciting new national quality improvement projects that are being considered for release in 2023. Beyond ASK will build on the experience of the Just ASK smoking cessation quality improvement project of 2022, with greater focus on advising and assisting programs in getting more cancer patients referred to effective cancer treatment. Breaking Barriers, a new national quality improvement project, will be designed to help programs understand and address barriers to care. If you are interested in participating in these new projects, we invite you to complete this short 1-minute survey. Keep reading Cancer Programs News so we can help you plan for 2023; more information is coming soon.
