Chair, ACS Cancer Programs Education Core

A big thanks to all of you who attended the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Cancer Conference: Where Cancer Care Comes Together; it was a great success because you came, and you engaged.  A special thanks also goes to all who worked behind the scenes and on the stage to make this conference happen. After a long hiatus of remote-only learning, it was richly rewarding to see familiar faces, new faces, and to witness networking and the sharing of success stories. Engagement between attendees, speakers, panelists, poster presenters, and exhibitors was at an all-time high and so, not only did the attendees learn about the new accreditation and staging standards, quality measures, and quality improvement projects, but Cancer Programs leaders and staff also heard great feedback.

Each year with the rollout of new standards, quality measures, quality improvement projects, tools, and toolkits, this annual conference aspires to accelerate learning and to share best practices and address challenges. The intent of the annual conference, simply put, is to facilitate interactions between those who develop and those who implement the new cancer materials.

Please mark your calendar now for February 22-24, 2024.  We are all set to host next year’s ACS Cancer Conference in Austin, TX.  We will review all your feedback from the 2023 conference and start to plan for 2024. While some of the details may change to reflect what’s new next year, we will make sure that this annual conference will consistently reveal all you need to know about what is new in the ACS Cancer Programs.
