Popular Icons in Surgery Sessions Are Back at Clinical Congress

October 11, 2022

The ACS has had many noteworthy members in its 100+ year history. Each year during Clinical Congress since 2015, the lives and careers of several historic surgeons have been highlighted. This year, two video-based Icons in Surgery Sessions will celebrate four significant figures:

VE205. Icons in Surgery I

VE306. Icons in Surgery II

  • Steven A. Rosenberg, MD, a pioneer in the development of oncologic immunotherapy and gene therapy for patients with advanced cancer, chief of the Surgery Branch at the National Cancer Institute, and 2018 recipient of the ACS Jacobson Innovation Award.
  • Alden H. Harken, MD, FACS, a key contributor to the field of cardiac electrophysiology, which advanced the understanding of the pathophysiology of ventricular tachycardia.
