Lung Cancer Staging Video Helps Patients Prepare for Treatment Decisions

November 3, 2026

November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month. A video series from the American Cancer Society National Lung Cancer Roundtable (NLCRT), of which the ACS is a member, helps patients and families understand how staging informs treatment decisions.

The Promoting Guideline Concordant Staging Video Series addresses six common questions: why staging matters, what the process involves, where lymph nodes are located, when nodal staging occurs, who performs staging, and how lymph nodes are examined.

Staging guides treatment selection. By explaining its purpose and the clinicians and procedures involved, the videos can help patients and caregivers participate in decisions about care.

Surgeons and other members of the multidisciplinary care team can share the videos during clinical visits and encourage patients to prepare questions about their evaluation and treatment.

The videos also are available in Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Hindi. A recording of the September 2025 launch webinar also is available.

Explore the video series and share these resources with patients, families, and your surgical care team.

The ACS also has resources dedicated to lung cancer and lung cancer awareness. See a recent media release, a 2026 ACS Bulletin feature article, and a JACS collection dedicated to the topic.
