Clinical Data Strategy

Learn about the new ACS strategy to transform how hospitals use clinical data to improve patient surgical care

Clinical Data Strategy

Our ACS Surgical Quality Partner hospitals know that good data are essential for sustained improvement efforts. Reducing the burden of data collection and analysis will enhance the impact of our programs. Our collaboration with Epic and future technology partners has the potential to transform how hospitals use data just as NSQIP did two decades ago.

Patricia L. Turner, MD, MBA, FACS

ACS Executive Director & CEO

Building on more than 20 years of expertise in helping hospitals use clinical data through ACS NSQIP, the ACS is launching a new multiyear Clinical Data Strategy to simplify data collection processes and accelerate quality improvement.

ACS will use Epic’s Community Registries Platform to streamline data collection, create more complete sets of patient records and provide more timely insights to clinicians.

The ACS Clinical Data Strategy will expand to include other technology partners to support ACS Surgical Quality Partner hospitals and enhance their ability to effectively use clinical data.

Included Registries

The first rollout will integrate the ACS National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP)NSQIP Pediatric, and the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program registries into the Epic platform.
