Increase cancer knowledge, decrease cancer’s impact
1) Reduce the impact of cancer by increasing knowledge and awareness of new evidence and practice standards; 2) Increase the participation of oncology surgeons in cancer research and cancer care activities; 3) Develop and implement evidence-based practices in surgical oncology; 4) Create opportunities for meaningful health services research
Kimberly S. Corbin, MD; Diana Dickson-Witmer, MD, FACS; and Christina A. Minami, MD, members of the Cancer Research Program (CRP), discuss the omission of sentinel lymph node biopsy in patients 70 years and older with cT1N0 HR+ breast cancer. The purpose of this video is to provide clinicians with a short, concise review of the data behind this recommendation, as well as disease and patient considerations in omitting sentinel lymph node biopsy and radiation therapy in this population.
The Operative Standards for Cancer Surgery Video Series is designed to help surgeons incorporate evidence-based techniques into their practice.
