On Friday, January 16, California policy leaders, surgeons, and health care providers convened at the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Surgical Health Care Quality Forum Sacramento for an engaging session about quality, and how we can work together to improve surgical patient outcomes, reduce costs, and advance health care in our state and nation.

The event was co-hosted by Julie Freischlag, MD, FACS, Regent, American College of Surgeons, vice- chancellor for human health sciences and dean of the School of Medicine, University of California Davis Health System; and David Wisner, MD, FACS, professor of surgery, University of California Davis School of Medicine, vice-chair, department of surgery, University of California Davis Health System. The program also featured keynote speakers U.S. Rep. Ami Bera, MD (D-CA7) and U.S. Rep. Doris Matsui (D-CA6), and panelists included:
