Jacqueline Jeruss, MD, PhD, FACS

Jeruss Receives Named Professorship

Jacqueline S. Jeruss, MD, PhD, FACS, was installed as the inaugural Alfred E. Chang, MD, Research Professor in Surgical Oncology in the Department of Surgery at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Dr. Jeruss also is associate vice president for research integrity and compliance at the University of Michigan and associate dean for regulatory affairs at the University of Michigan Medical School.

Tsuyoshi Kaneko, MD, FACS

Kaneko Leads CT Surgery at WashU

Tsuyoshi Kaneko, MD, FACS, is the new director of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery in the Department of Surgery at Washington University (WashU) in St. Louis, Missouri. He also will remain the John M. Shoenberg Chair of Cardiovascular Disease. Previously, he was chief of cardiac surgery in the Department of Surgery at WashU.

John Mullen, MD, FACS

Mullen Chairs Surgery at Dartmouth

John T. Mullen, MD, FACS, was named chair of the Department of Surgery at Dartmouth Health Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth in Lebanon and Hanover, New Hampshire, respectively. He also will be nominated for appointment as the William N. and Bessie Allyn Professor in Surgery at the Geisel School of Medicine. A surgical oncologist, Dr. Mullen previously served as program director of general surgery residency, vice chair of faculty affairs, and co-chair of the executive compensation committee in the Department of Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Elliot Chaikof, MD, PhD, FACS

Chaikof Is Elected to American Academy of Arts and Sciences

Elliot L. Chaikof, MD, PhD, FACS, was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences for distinguished accomplishments in biological sciences, engineering, and technology. Established in 1780, the Academy honors excellence and brings together leaders from across disciplines to examine new ideas and address issues of importance. Dr. Chaikof is chair of the Department of Surgery and surgeon-in-chief at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts, as well as the Johnson and Johnson Professor of Surgery and chair of the Surgical Executive Committee at Harvard Medical School in Boston.
