Surgeons looking to strengthen skills beyond the OR can take advantage of two ACS courses in spring 2027. Whether the goal is becoming a more effective organizational leader or strengthening surgical education, each course provides focused training led by experienced faculty.
ACS Surgeons as Leaders: From Operating Room to Boardroom will take place March 21–24, 2027, in Durham, North Carolina. Designed for experienced surgeons who hold or aspire to leadership positions, the highly interactive course addresses emotional intelligence, communication, team building, conflict resolution, financial stewardship, organizational change, and other essential leadership skills. Participants also receive personalized faculty coaching and opportunities to discuss challenges encountered in academic and community practice. Applications are due Wednesday, October 7.
ACS Surgeons as Educators will be held March 20–26, 2027, in Atlanta, Georgia. The six-day intensive course helps surgical faculty enhance their effectiveness as teachers and administrators of surgical education programs. Participants will focus on curriculum development, teaching methods and technologies, learner and program evaluation, and leadership and management in educational settings. Enrollment is limited to 40 participants to encourage interaction. Applications are due Friday, October 9.
