TQIP Annual Conference

Pediatric Trauma Survivor’s Story Will Offer Inspiration and Hope at TQIP Conference

November 8, 2022

You are invited to register for the ACS Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQIP) Annual Conference, December 11–13 in Phoenix, AZ, where surgeons and trauma quality improvement staff will come together for the first in-person TQIP conference in 3 years. In addition to an array of educational session, the 2022 Trauma Survivor session will take a new approach this year and focus on the story of a young pediatric patient and the systems of care that enabled a truly inspiring outcome.

Kaden, just 3 years old at the time of his accident, was on vacation with his family visiting grandparents in a rural Californian town 2 hours north of San Francisco. Riding in a tractor with his father and siblings down a bumpy hill, he fell out and was run over. Time was of the essence, and the location was so remote that his father needed to drive down a country road with Kaden in the car to meet the emergency medical services (EMS) team.

Dozens of providers treated Kaden and supported his family throughout his journey, from EMS in the field, to the Level IV trauma center that first received them, to the Level I Pediatric Trauma Center where Kaden underwent continued treatment and recovery. During this session, attendees will hear from providers in each of these areas, with his parents sharing their family’s experience at every step along the way.

In-person and virtual registration options are now available. Virtual conference registration includes access to the virtual meeting platform for viewing general session recordings, the ePoster Gallery, and Exhibit Hall. All registrants, in-person and virtual, will have access to on-demand content starting in January 2023.
