Additional Residents as Teachers and Leaders Course Added in June

The ACS has opened registration for an additional option in the popular Residents as Teachers and Leaders Course (RATaL), which will be held June 10–13 at the Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club in Durham, North Carolina.

RATaL is designed specifically for mid- to senior-level surgery residents. The course faculty, featuring nationally renowned clinical and educational professionals, will provide an interactive learning environment. The course will address the following essential nonclinical skills for residents’ lifelong roles as teachers, leaders, and practicing surgeons: 

Effective Teaching 

  • Establishing a positive learning climate
  • Finding time to teach
  • Teaching in ambulatory settings and the operating room
  • Giving performance feedback

Successful Leading
