Future Surgeons: Get Residency Ready with New ACS Course

Newly matched physicians seeking to begin their surgical residencies with confidence are encouraged to register for a new ACS Residency Readiness Course. This 3-day, in-person course will be held in June to give new residents a last-minute boost of preparation before they start their surgical intern year in July. The course is open to expected graduates from 2026 and 2027.

Hosted at ACS Headquarters in Chicago, Illinois, June 15–17, the program combines firsthand skills training with practical sessions focused on the clinical and professional expectations of residency. Participants will work through real-world call scenarios, review core postoperative care principles, get feedback on basic technical skills, and learn strategies for navigating their new responsibilities—so they can hit the ground running. Designed for students between graduation and residency start, this course helps build technical ability, clinical judgment, and confidence.

Space is limited, so make sure to register today. Contact cbuchignani@facs.org for more information.
