Join Discussions on Sustainability in New ACS Community

Are you interested in learning more about environmental and resource sustainability efforts in surgery, or do you want to share your knowledge with your colleagues? Then join the new Sustainability Community in the ACS Communities, the College’s networking platform that allows surgeons to connect, engage, and share information and best practices in real time.

Current topics in the Sustainability Community includes discussion threads on reusable gowns, climate change and surgical disease, and surgery’s carbon footprint.

Sustainability has become an increasingly discussed topic across the ACS, with recent a Bulletin viewpoint article (“Next Generation of Clinicians Lead Charge Toward Healthcare Sustainability—But They Need Help”) and research from the Journal of the American College of Surgeons (Environmental Impact and Cost Savings of Operating Room Quality Improvement Initiatives: A Scoping Review). Join the conversation about these articles and other relevant resources in the new Community.

After checking out the Sustainability Community, make sure to view the many other clinical and direct patient care topics, non-clinical topics including diversity and surgeon writers, and group-based communities for the Resident and Associate Society, women surgeons, and more.
