Application Deadline Nears for Aspiring Leaders Program

Mid-career ACS Fellows interested in accelerating their professional development and maximizing their leadership potential have only 10 days left to apply for the ACS Aspiring Leaders Program. Piloted in 2021, this program pairs each participant with a senior surgeon, based on individual career goals and aspirations, so that they can collaborate and develop growth strategies. Applications are due Friday, August 19, 2022, and the group will begin meeting in October.

During the year-long program, the surgeon pairs will engage in a series of virtual and in-person meetings to identify and clarify professional development goals, complete tailored educational and experiential activities, and establish meaningful measures of success. Activities will include educational sessions, professional assessment exercises, and opportunities to meet other program participants.

Participants will invest their time in initiating change and accelerating their professional development as surgeon leaders. The selection process will be deliberate and focus on pair compatibility, while ensuring inclusivity of gender, race, ethnicity, practice, and specialty.
