The global burden of breast cancer is increasing, requiring surgeons around the world to broaden and deepen their knowledge. The ACS and the American Society of Breast Surgeons (ASBrS) offer a scholarship to surgeons specifically working in breast cancer surgery in countries other than the US and Canada to improve the quality of breast cancer surgical services. Preference will be given to applicants from developing nations.
The scholarship for $5,000 provides the scholar with an opportunity to attend the 27th Annual Meeting of the ASBrS, April 29–May 3, 2026, at the Seattle Convention Center in Seattle, Washington. The scholar is also invited to visit the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) headquarters in Chicago, Illinois, to learn about the standards for a breast cancer program/database and the importance of multidisciplinary breast cancer care.
The awardee will receive complimentary registration for the ASBrS annual meeting and one available postgraduate course at the meeting (restrictions apply). Assistance will be provided to obtain preferential housing at an economical hotel in Seattle. Hotel and travel expenses will be the awardee's responsibility, to be funded from the scholarship award.
