Register for Free Webinar on Emergency Gastrointestinal Surgery in Resource-Constrained Settings

Emergency gastrointestinal surgery is a surgical field of growing impact throughout the world, and the ACS is bringing together three renowned international surgeons to bring focus to specialty.

The ACS International Relations Committee (IRC) is sponsoring the upcoming webinar, Emergency Gastrointestinal Surgery: Improving Outcomes in Resource-Constrained Settings, at 8:00 am CT on Wednesday, April 19. The event will provide attendees with the background on the burden of emergency gastrointestinal surgery in resource-constrained settings and its effect on patient outcomes in the areas where the presenters work internationally. Panelists include:

  • Giuseppe Nigri MD, PhD, FACS, FRCS, professor of surgery at Sapienza University of Rome, Italy (Moderator)
  • Kathryn Chu MD, MPH, FACS, FASCRS, director of the Centre of Global Surgery and a professor of global surgery at Stellenbosch University, South Africa
  • Robert Parker MD, MPH, FACS, FCS(ECSA), Director of Research at Tenwek Hospital in Bomet County, Kenya

They also will discuss potential evidence-based solutions that surgeons can implement to improve surgical access and quality in similar settings worldwide.
