American College Of Surgeons - Inspiring Quality: Highest Standards, Better Outcomes

Session Code: TH207
Title: Addressing Intimate Partner Violence for the Surgical Community
Date and Time of Session: Tuesday, October 23: 7:00 am - 7:45 am
Location: Boston Convention and Exhibition Center - Room: 161
Description: Intimate partner violence has become a public health crisis and awareness has peaked in the surgical community due to recent violence against surgeons that has been inflicted on loved ones and colleagues. Although this is a problem that affects all socioeconomic groups and takes many forms, the purpose of this Town Hall session is to discuss the College’s role and responsibility in creating resources for the surgeon community. These resources would be designed to increase awareness for at risk individuals, develop peer-to-peer interventions, create an educational campaign that de-stigmatizes the issue, and contribute to developing a curriculum to educate medical students, residents, and practicing surgeons.
