CME State Requirements

About CME State Requirements

The majority of state licensing boards have established specific content requirements for Continuing Medical Education (CME) Credit such as Ethics, Pain Management/Opioid Prescribing, and Patient Safety. In an effort to help individuals meet these requirements, the American College of Surgeons (ACS) has identified ACS Clinical Congress sessions that focus on these content areas and have designated the corresponding CME as Credit to Address Regulatory Mandates.

When claiming CME Credit for these sessions, individuals can elect to include the Credit to Address Regulatory Mandates and this will be documented as part of their CME Certificate. Individuals MUST check with their state or local medical board, hospital, or organization to verify that the content does meet the specific requirements.
