Ellen J. MacKenzie, PhD

Ellen J. MacKenzie, PhD, is the current dean and distinguished professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She is a renowned researcher and expert in the field of trauma services and outcomes research.

Dr. MacKenzie’s work focuses on the impact of health services and policies on the short-and long-term consequences of traumatic injury. Over the course of her career, she has contributed to the development and evaluation of tools for measuring both the severity and outcome of injury. These tools have then been used to evaluate the organization, financing, and performance of trauma systems and rehabilitation services.

We are honored to have Dr. MacKenzie deliver the 2023 Keynote Address, reflecting this year’s theme of “Road to Recovery.” Her research has advanced the knowledge of the economic and social impact of injuries and continues to improve our understanding of how personal and environmental factors influence recovery.
