ATLS Program and Courses

Course Content

Different versions of this course content are delivered to meet the needs of each audience.

ATLS Traditional Course  

  • Teaches medical core content in an interactive, in-person format
  • Ranges from 2 to 2.5 days in length
  • Hands-on skills sessions in simulated trauma settings
  • Successful completion status valid for 4 years from course date

ATLS Hybrid Course

  • Teaches medical core content in an interactive, online format
  • 1.5 days in length
  • Hands-on, in-person skills sessions in simulated trauma settings
  • Successful completion status valid for 4 years from course date

ATLS Refresher Course

  • Provides physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs) the opportunity to maintain a current status
  • Only eligible to current ATLS verified clinicians
  • Ranges from .5 day or 1 day in length, will skills practice.
  • Content overview, written and practical tests included

ATLS Instructor Course

  • ATLS Course participants identified as having instructor potential (IP) may advance to the Instructor Course within a specified time frame
  • Utilizes both didactic and practical teaching methodologies
  • Ranges from 1, 1.5, and 2 days in length
  • Prepares the physician and advanced practice provider to instruct the Advanced Trauma Life Support® (ATLS®) Course

  • 1-day (Minimum 16.00 CME, Maximum 39.00 CME; 10 Self-Assessment; Minimum 16.00, Maximum 39.00 Trauma Regulatory Mandates)
  • 1.5-day (Minimum 16.00 CME, Maximum 39.00 CME; 10 Self-Assessment; Minimum 16.00, Maximum 39.00 Trauma Regulatory Mandates)

ATLS Refresher Course*

  • .5-day (Minimum 5.00 CME, Maximum 32.00 CME; 10 Self-Assessment; Minimum 5.00, Maximum 32.00 Trauma Regulatory Mandates)
  • 1-day (Minimum 5.00 CME, Maximum 32.00 CME; 10 Self-Assessment; Minimum 5.00, Maximum 32.00 Trauma Regulatory Mandates)

ATLS Instructor Course*

  • 1-day (8.00 CME; 6.00 Self-Assessment)
  • 1.5-day (12.00 CME. 6.00 Self-Assessment)
  • 2-day (16.00 CME, 6.00 Self-Assessment)

*CME will only be granted upon successful completion of the course with a minimum post-test score of 75%.
