American College Of Surgeons - Inspiring Quality: Highest Standards, Better Outcomes

Patient-Reported Outcomes

The Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) encourages participating centers to enroll in the Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) Program. The MBSAQIP PROMs is an online platform whereby centers enter patient data prior to a procedure and the system then surveys patients preoperatively, 12 months post-surgery, and annually thereafter. The PRO surveys and associated feedback provide both patients and providers with up-to-date metrics by capturing the issues that patients care about the most, which in turn inform the decision about which surgical procedure is best for them.
