American College Of Surgeons - Inspiring Quality: Highest Standards, Better Outcomes

An updated version of Optimal Resources for Cancer Care (2020 Standards) is now available

An updated version of Optimal Resources for Cancer Care (2020 Standards) is now available. The February 2021 version includes the previously-announced updates to the NCDB submission standards. Also included in the updated manual are revisions to the Operative Standards (Standards 5.3-5.8).

The Operative Standards (5.3-5.8) updates are the result of feedback received from staff and surgeons at CoC-accredited cancer programs. The revisions clarify the requirements for compliance, improve consistency among the standards, and update required elements and responses for the standardized synoptic operative reports. The synoptic operative report templates being developed by the Cancer Surgery Standards Program (CSSP) will match the synoptic operative report requirements (elements and responses) listed for each standard.

A change log is available that outlines edits made to the manual since its original publication in October 2019. Questions on the Commission on Cancer accreditation standards should be submitted to the CAnswer Forum.
