Commission on Cancer Pediatric Designation

Commission on Cancer Pediatric Designation

Strengthening Pediatric Cancer Programs Through Accreditation

Children with cancer often require specialized, coordinated care to achieve optimal outcomes. To support this need, the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Commission on Cancer (CoC) has established a pediatric designation within its accreditation program. This designation encourages programs to organize, streamline, and formalize roles, workflows, and processes to advance excellence in pediatric cancer care.

Of the 37 CoC Standards, the Pediatric designation has:

  • 16 modified standards
  • 8 exempt standard
"The CoC pediatric accreditation process provides a structured approach to routinely and systematically take a close look at all the components of your program and make sure it is running smoothly. It is like doing tune-ups on your engine instead of reacting to a check engine light."

Matteo Trucco, MD, Director of the Children’s Cancer Innovative Therapy Program at Cleveland Clinic
