Biography

Nadia Hussein is a resident in General Surgery at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Northern Virginia, just outside of Washington, DC. As an undergraduate, she studied Biomedical Engineering at Vanderbilt University and later received an MPH in Global Health Program Monitoring, Design, and Evaluation from George Washington University. She then completed her MD at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia and New Orleans, Louisiana. She is passionate about improving access to and quality of surgical care for vulnerable and underserved populations. Her specialty interests include global, pediatric and acute care surgery. Nadia is currently working as a research fellow in global surgery with the UJMT Fogarty LAUNCH program and the Paul Farmer Program for Global Surgery and Social Change at Harvard.
