Biography

I am Dr. Andrés Megchún Alpízar, a general surgeon with more than 20 years of experience in general, laparoscopic, endoscopic, and bariatric surgery. I completed my medical degree at the Tecnológico de Monterrey and my internship at Hospital San José Tec de Monterrey and at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, gaining experience in high-level hospital environments with international standards of medical care. I later specialized in General Surgery at the Hospital General de México in Mexico City, accredited by the UNAM, and completed an Advanced Fellowship in Bariatric Surgery in Centro Medico 20 de Noviembre, Mexico City, also accredited by UNAM. In addition, I have completed advanced international training programs, including the Texas Endosurgery Institute in San Antonio, Texas, and at the National Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery in Havana, Cuba and endorsed by national associations such as AMCG, AMCE and CMCOEM and international associations such as AMSBS, ACS and IFSO. My professional practice is characterized by the use of minimally invasive techniques and international safety standards. I specialize in the surgical treatment of digestive system diseases, hernia surgery, gallbladder and appendix surgery, endoscopic procedures, and bariatric surgery, including sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, mini gastric bypass, and gastric balloon placement, as well as revisional surgery. I currently practice in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, where I direct Clínica Megchún Alpízar and collaborate with the Policlínica de Especialidades en Chiapas. I hold a valid medical license and current certifications in general and bariatric surgery and am an active member of national and international medical associations. I regularly participate in medical conferences, training courses, and scientific publications, allowing me to provide ethical, safe, up-to-date, and evidence-based medical care, with a human approach and close follow-up at every stage of treatment.
