I have been trained as an abdominal surgeon since my first years at the Catholic University School of Medicine. I graduated in 1992 and achieved the specialization degree (MS - CCT) in General Surgery in 1999 at the same University. My main scientific interest has always been the treatment of colorectal cancer, but also malignant conditions of the upper GI and hepatobiliary system and benign abdominal conditions such as biliary diseases, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease and inflammatory bowel disease. Since I became Consultant in 1999 I have worked at that level both in Italy (Aurelia Hospital, Rome) and in the UK (Noble's Hospital, Isle of Man - East Kent Hospitals University NHSFT - Frimley Health NHSFT - Oxford University Hospitals NHSFT). At the moment I am in charge of the Digestive and Emergency Surgery Department in Terni (Italy). I have also covered academic roles (visiting professor, clinical and educational supervisor, academic tutor), am a trainer for the Royal College of Surgeons of England and am Author of more than 100 scientific papers.
