Professor Kim, born in 1956 in South Korea, graduated from Yonsei University College of Medicine in 1981 and worked as an intern and a resident in Severance Hospital from 1982 to 1986. And he was given the doctor’s degree after graduation from Graduate school of Yonsei University College of Medicine in 1992. He was trained as a fellow in department of surgery from 1989 to 1991. From 2003, he has worked as a professor and a chief of division of colorectal surgery in Yonsei University College of Medicine. And he had undertaken a chairman of board of regent of Korean Society of Coloproctology and a Chairman of board of regent of Korean Society of Clinical Oncology during 2009~2011 and 2010~2014, respectively. He had also served as a president of Asia Pacific Colorectal Cancer Association and as a president of Korean Society of Coloproctology from 2012 to 2015 and from 2016 to Arpil 2016, respectively. He has been a president of Korean Colorectal Cancer Study Group since 2014, and a director of department of surgery in Yonsei University College of Medicine since 2013. He is a member of Korean Surgical Society, Korean Society of Coloproctology, Korean Cancer Association, International Association Surgeons and Gastroenterologist, American College of Surgeons and The Royal College of Surgeons He has devoted himself for development of treatment in colorectal cancer, and has had a lot of academic works such as books and journals published over 300 articles. He is one of those who have high reputation in Korean society of coloproctology, and his academic and clinical achievements made one step forward in medical development in Korea.
