Biography

Dr. Lawrence Simon is a native of Lafayette, Louisiana and an alumnus Louisiana State University and Baylor College of Medicine, where he also completed a residency in Otolaryngology. After residency, he completed a fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, California. Dr. Simon is a diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology, a member of the AMA, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy. He has presented research at numerous national meetings and earned awards from ASPO, SENTAC, and the AAO-HNS. A nationally recognized expert in Health Policy/Healthcare reform and Coding/Reimbursement, he has presented over ninety lectures and courses on topics such as the CPT/RUC process and the CMS Quality Payment Program. Dr. Simon’s current leadership roles with the College include serving on the Otolaryngology Advisory Council (AC) and AC Quality Pillar. His also serves the AAO/HNS as Advisor to the AMA CPT Editorial Panel; member of the Physician Payment Policy Workgroup; Chair of Business of Medicine for the Annual Meeting Program Committee and the Core Curriculum Workgroup; and Associate Editor for Pediatric Otolaryngology for Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Lastly, he also sits on the Advisory Councils for the LSU Ogden Honors College and the Lafayette Animal Care Center. Currently, Dr. Simon serves as Medical Director with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana and Clinical Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology for LSU Health Sciences Center. He resides in Lafayette, Louisiana, with his wife Lindsay and their seven dogs Boudreaux, Thibodeaux, Shelby, Loran, Lola, Maggie-Moo, and Roscoe. Together, they founded the LMS Animal Rescue Foundation (facebook.com/ruffridertransports), a 501(c)(3) public charity that operates RuffRider Transports and is dedicated to the fostering and rescuing of animals nationwide.
