Biography

Dr. William D. Aiken is Professor of Urology and Head of the Department of Surgery, Radiology, Anaesthesia & Intensive Care at The University of the West Indies, Faculty of Medical Sciences at the Mona Campus in Jamaica. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and the Caribbean College of Surgeons. He is a Past President of the Jamaica Urological Society, The Association of Surgeons in Jamaica, and the Caribbean Urological Association. He is a member of the American Urological Association and the European Association of Urology. He is currently the International Surgical Advisor for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh for Jamaica. He has authored over 55 peer-reviewed articles in impactful journals and has been cited over 1000 times. His focus of research activity is on prostate cancer in Afro-Caribbean men with an emphasis on lessening disparities. He is a member of the Board of the Medical Council of Jamaica and is also a volunteer doctor for the Jamaica Cancer Society. He is an enthusiastic Rotarian and will be District Governor for District 7020 which is comprised of ten Caribbean countries and sixteen territories in the Rotary year 2025-2026. He is married to Ella, a medical doctor, and has seven children.
