Dr. Medina-Villaseñor's clinical and research interests include the diagnosis and treatment of a broad range of both primary and metastatic malignancies including breast cancer, gynecologic cancer, colon and rectal cancer, gastric cancer, thyroid cancer, retroperitoneal sarcoma, primary and metastatic liver malignancies, biliary tract disease, head and neck tumors and melanoma . Additionally, he is interested in the application of minimally invasive techniques and their role in cancer care appropriate treatment pathway. Dr. Medina-Villaseñor graduated from the National Autonomous University of Mexico(UNAM-Mexico City) with Honors in Surgical Oncology. He went on to attend a medical program, Facultad de Estudios Superiores Zaragoza, UNAM, where he earned his M.D, with Honors. He attended the Autonomous University State of Mexico for his General Surgery residency, and he was graduated with honors. During his residency, he took an additional course for Cancer Surgery in the Department of Mixed Tumors and Head and Neck Tumors at General Hospital of Mexico. After completing his General Surgery training, he returned to General Hospital of Mexico to complete his Clinical Surgical Oncology fellowship. He was Chief of residents in the Oncology Service and received the Alfonso Caso’s Award for the Division of postgraduate, Faculty of Medicine. National Autonomous University of Mexico, UNAM 2004. Certifications:Mexican Board of General Surgery and Mexican Board of Oncology. Post Graduate: Laparoscopic surgery at the University Hospital Saint Pierre, Brussels, Belgium in 2001. Advance course in gynecological oncology at the European School of Oncology (ESO) in 2006. He is Assistant Professor of Oncology in the undergraduate division of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He has published many articules to medical and surgical oncology literature in Spanish. He is the editor of the Book: Fundamentos de Oncologia. Edited by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and the Mexican Board of Oncology. 2009.Mexico City. He has presented more than 50 abstracts in National and International Congress in Surgical Oncology, Laparoscopic surgery, Gynecological Oncology and General Surgery. He has been a voluntary physician in the metropolitan area of Mexico City for the detection of breast cancer in populations that have low economic resources. This is organized on behalf of the Mexico Methodist Church and by the Centro Oncológico Betania since 2002 to present. He has accreditation in English from the Department of Foreign Languages, UNAM and formal certification in English from the Internet Based TOEFL(iBT) test.
