Caitlin Halbert, DO MS is a General Surgeon with a focus in Bariatric and Foregut surgery. After completing a Masters of Science in Biomedical Sciences, Dr. Halbert received her medical education at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She went on to complete her General Surgery residency training at Christiana Care Health System in Delaware. She then received specialty training at Stony Brook University Hospital, completing a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Bariatric and Advanced Gastrointestinal Surgery. Dr. Halbert specializes in bariatric surgery, including laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy and roux-en-y gastric bypass. Her practice also includes foregut surgery, with a focus on the treatment of achalasia, gastrointestinal reflux disease, and hiatal and diaphragmatic hernias. Dr. Halbert has returned to her home institution at Christiana Care Health System to practice. She is the Medical Director of the Bariatric Surgery Program and the Chief of Surgery at the Wilmington Campus. Dr. Halbert is actively involved in national organizations, including the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgery (SAGES) and the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). She has authored several publications and has presented at a number of regional and national conferences. Patient safety and quality of care is at the center of her personal philosophy. She believes in creating an individualized care plan for every patient based on sound evidence-based research.
