Biography

Dr. Neil Tanna currently serves as Senior Vice President of System Perioperative Services & Strategy and System Vice Chair of the Department of Surgery at Northwell. In this leadership role, Dr. Tanna partners with perioperative leadership, service line leaders, and the regional market presidents to optimize outcomes and align perioperative services with Northwell’s broader strategic goals. Through the integration of system-wide strategies that enhance surgical efficiency and patient outcomes, Dr. Tanna’s efforts help optimize surgical care across the network and advance Northwell’s mission to provide high-quality care that’s close to home and easily accessible, while continuing to build world-class surgical programs. Dr. Tanna is a double board-certified plastic surgeon, a professor of surgery at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, and an investigator in the Institute of Bioelectronic Medicine at the Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research. Following a combined six-year accelerated medical program at RPI/Albany Medical College, he completed residency training in otolaryngology–head and neck surgery at The George Washington University, a second residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at UCLA, and a fellowship in microvascular surgery at NYU. He also holds a Master of Business Administration in healthcare management from The George Washington University. Dr. Tanna has authored over 150 peer-reviewed articles and presented at hundreds of national and international scientific meetings. He is currently Associate Editor for the leading Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (PRS) Journal. As a leader in his field, Dr. Tanna has been featured in national and international media outlets. Among numerous noteworthy honors and awards, Dr. Tanna has also been listed in the New York Magazine Top Doctors, Castle Connolly Top Doctors, New York Times Super Doctors, and Newsday Top Doctors lists.
