Dr. Samuel P. Mandell is an Associate Professor of Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center and serves as Medical Director of the Parkland Regional Burn Center in Dallas, Texas. A board-certified trauma, burn, and surgical critical care surgeon, Dr. Mandell’s leadership spans clinical care, quality improvement, and surgical education. At Parkland, he directs one of the nation’s busiest adult and pediatric burn centers, overseeing multidisciplinary verification cycles and expanding access to complex reconstructive procedures across North Texas. He also serves as Medical Director for Surgical Quality, leading institutional efforts to integrate data-driven performance improvement and national registry participation. Nationally, Dr. Mandell is active in the American Burn Association and the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma, where his work focuses on verification, outcomes, and workforce development. His scholarly contributions include advancing burn quality metrics, trauma systems improvement, and surgical education innovations.
