Biography

Dr. Hamed obtained his medical degree from University of Jordan School of Medicine with highest honors. After that he pursuit his surgical training in the United States, he finished his General Surgery Residency from Cincinnati Ohio, then performed 2 fellowships, one in Advanced Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at the University of Maryland in Baltimore and the second in Liver, Pancreas and Gastrointestinal Tumors Surgery from Penn State University in Hershey Pennsylvania,. He joined King Hussein Cancer Center KHCC department of Surgery as Consultant in Surgical Oncology and Minimally Invasive Surgery where he established a busy Hepatopancreatobiliary and GI oncology practice, he pioneered the introduction of advanced minimally invasive surgery for all kinds of GI malignancies at KHCC. Currently Dr. Hamed hold the following positions: director of the Specialized Gastrointestinal, Liver, Pancreas and Bariatric Surgery Clinic in Amman; part-time lecturer at the Department of Surgery in the Faculty of Medicine University of Jordan, He is also member of the HPB surgery board committee for the Jordan Medical Council. Dr Hamed is a founding member of the Jordan chapter of the American College of surgeons and he served as the first secretary of the chapter, during his time the ACS Jordan chapter had performed multiple successful regional and local events and very successful jeopardy competition among surgery residents. In addition to his passion about surgical education Dr. Hamed main interest is the application of Minimally Invasive Surgery in Complex GI Oncology and multidisciplinary management of Colorectal Liver Metastasis, Bariatric Surgery with special focus on revisional procedures and surgical treatment of type II Diabetes Mellitus. He has multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters, he is also a member of the MENA-NCCN for the colon cancer and HCC committee also he is a founding and council member of the Jordan Obesity Society
