Biography

Dr. Rice is a minimally invasive and robotic surgeon focusing in bariatric / weight loss surgery. He graduated West Point, attended medical school at the University of Washington in Seattle, and then entered the US Army for residency training. During 14 years of Active Duty he served as a Residency Instructor, Associate Program Director and Residency Program Director. He joined Presbyterian Medical Group in New Mexico and started a weight loss surgery program in the Albuquerque area. Dr. Rice performs gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, band removals, and revision procedures as well as basic and advanced endoscopic procedures (stenting) for the upper digestive tract. He has extensive training and experience in robotic surgery where he serves as a proctor to teach less experienced surgeons.
