Biography

Dr. Mallory Williams is the Chair of the Department of Trauma and Burn Services at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County. He is Professor of Surgery at Rush University. He is an academic acute care surgeon who enjoys the practice of all three elements of the field. He enjoys managing thoracoabdominal penetrating trauma and complex alimentary tract surgery. His academic interests are focused on high performing teams and health care quality. Dr. Williams is an outspoken advocate on the prevention of gun violence. He is an Associate Examiner for the American Board of Surgery and a Member of the Blue Ribbon Committee II on Transition to Practice. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, American College of Surgeons, American Medical Association, Central Surgical Association, Halsted Society, Rocky Mountain Traumatological Society, Society of Critical Care Medicine, Society of University Surgeons, Southeastern Surgical Congress, and Southern Surgical Association. He is also a Colonel in the United States Army Reserve Medical Corps with over 25 years of experience including the following Contingency Operations: Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Resolute Support, Operation Freedom's Sentinel, and Operation Spartan Shield.
