Surgeon with over 30 years of experience in the practice of surgery and teaching, in both emergency and elective intervention settings. Pioneer in Chile in applying certain techniques— duly published in medical literature— such as laparoscopic splenectomy and single-port sleeve gastrectomy. I have constantly been at the forefront of the advanced surgical treatments for gastrointestinal diseases and obesity in Chile; initially, with the implementation of laparoscopic surgery, then single-incision surgery, and currently with robotic surgery. I have been the Chilean chapter of the ACS for 24 years, a history that began when I was sworn in as a fellow in 2001. Over the years, I have been an ATLS instructor, directed many courses, and held all positions on the Board of Directors, ultimately serving as its president from 2014 to 2015. Currently, I have the honor and privilege of serving as the Governor of the Chilean Chapter of the ACS for the 2025-2028 term.
