Biography

My academic practice is focused heavily on treating patients with colon and rectal cancer. I primarily use minimally invasive techniques to remove these cancers and restore intestinal continuity when possible. Robotic surgery has proven to be important in the practice and we are advancing the experience. We also have a very active interest in inflammatory bowel disease and minimally invasive approaches to the surgical therapy. Single incision laparoscopy has proven to be possible for the treatment of IBD and this is something that I have incorporated into my practice. I also have an active clinical research program centered in quality improvement and implementing new programs to improve short-term outcomes in patients undergoing colon and rectal surgery. I am fully committed to ensuring care is safe, effective, and patient centered. We are actively learning from our past experiences to implement new protocols that will result in higher quality care in the future.
