Andrea Anita Hayes, MD FACS

I am Director of Pediatric Surgical Oncology and Associate Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Also, I am part of the University of Texas Houston Health Sciences Center Pediatric surgery group that practices out of Children’s Memorial Herman Hospital (CMHH). As a pediatric surgical oncologist, my unique strengths and abilities lie in the surgical treatment of pediatric tumors all over the body including lung, kidneys, abdominal organs and muscle surgery. I have developed a surgical procedure phase 1 clinical trial in children with sarcomatosis. I was the first and only surgeon in North America to perform a high risk adult surgery called hyperthermia intraperitoneal (HIPEC) on a young cancer patients. I continue to be the only surgeon in North America performing this procedure. Additionally I am the first female African American Pediatric Surgical Oncologist.
