Biography

Dr. Bassem Safadi is a specialist in bariatric surgery and has been performing operations such as laparoscopic and open gastric bypass, banding, and sleeve gastrectomy since 2001. He completed his surgical training in the United States and started his academic career at Stanford University/VAPAHCS before returning to Lebanon in 2006. Dr. Safadi is well known in the middle east region and he is frequently invited to perform surgery, teach, and mentor other surgeons. His scope of work includes open and laparoscopic surgery of the digestive system (examples: surgery for gall bladder disease, stomach cancer and ulcers, acid reflux disease and hiatal hernia, achalasia, colon cancer, colon polyps, appendicitis, diverticulitis, hemorrhoids and anal fissure). He also performs abdominal wall hernia repair, abdominoplasty, and endocrine surgery (thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal surgery)."
