Biography

Comprehensive care of women with known or suspected premalignant or malignant conditions of the vulva, vagina, cervix, uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries or the peritoneum. Special expertise in full range of minimally invasive procedures, including use of laparoscopic and robot-assisted technology, and aggressive surgical open procedues required for successful treatment of advanced stages of gynecologic malignancies, including intestinal and urologic surgery. Comprehensive care involves state-of-the art chemotherapy, psychosocial support and close monitoring following the completion of therapy. Team approach to care is the norm. Education of medical students and residents is incorporated into the team approach model, as it serves to provide additional contact with the health care team, enhances the level of care provided, and ensures continued comprehensive care of women with gynecologic malignancies for future generations. Clinical research is conducted with the approval of the Institutional Review Board, via sponsored projects and national collaborative group (GOG). Active administrative involvement includes leadership positions regionally in American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, District II, natioanlly at Board of Governors of the American College of Surgeons, the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists and the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation. At Winthrop-University Hospital, leadership positions include that of Vice-Chair, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and member of the Cancer Executive Committee.
