David L. Dawson specializes in vascular and endovascular surgery, including carotid artery surgery and stenting, open and endovascular aortic aneurysm repair, vascular trauma, treatment of mesenteric and renal artery disease, venous disorders, diabetic foot problems, and other complex circulation disorders. He has practices with Baylor Scott & White Health and the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System. He is a clinical professor in the Texas A&M University College of Medicine. He is internationally recognized for his work with peripheral artery disease, vascular imaging, and surgical education. He is also a decorated Air Force veteran who, before a 16-year tenure on the UC Davis faculty, worked at NASA as chief of the Medical Sciences Division at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. His expertise in aviation and space medicine complements his interest in applying advanced technologies to health care and he has expertise in the use of high fidelity simulation systems for physician training. He has written numerous journal articles and book chapters, and frequently lectures at national and international conferences.
