American College Of Surgeons - Inspiring Quality: Highest Standards, Better Outcomes

Domestic Chapter Membership Recruitment Grant Program

To help stimulate recruitment efforts for domestic chapters, the American College of Surgeons (ACS) has launched the Domestic Chapter Membership Recruitment Grant Program. The aim of the program is to financially support domestic chapters seeking to increase chapter revenue from dues-eligible Fellows and Associate Fellows.

Under this program, chapters may request up to $1,000. Chapters are required to match 50 percent of the requested amount from their own funds. For example, if a chapter applies for $500, it would need to contribute $250.

Program Requirements

To be eligible for a grant, chapters must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be an ACS chapter in the United States or Canada.
  2. Have at least one Chapter Officer who champions the proposed initiative.
  3. Complete the most recent Chapter Annual Report (currently 2019 year). The deadline for the 2020 Annual Report will be January 29, 2021.
  4. Have a valid EIN number and be current with IRS tax returns (U.S. chapters only)

Chapters wishing to apply for a grant are required to complete a brief application outlining how the funds will be used, provide a budget, and provide a current list of dues paying chapter members in the Fellow and Associate Fellow categories. Chapters may only apply for one grant in 2021.

All questions about the grant program should be directed to Luke Moreau at lmoreau@facs.org or 312-965-2922.
