American College Of Surgeons - Inspiring Quality: Highest Standards, Better Outcomes

International Surgeons

As of January 2014, nearly 10 percent of our members are International surgeons. We strive to provide the best information regarding surgical practice and patient safety for all practicing surgeons, including those in countries around the world. As an International member, you will enjoy many benefits, including reduced prices on membership dues and meeting fees, plus special designated scholarship programs. A variety of surgical patient information materials are available to you in English and selected versions in other languages (Spanish and Chinese).

New International Dues Structure

ACS announced a new dues structure for International Fellows of the College which will take effect in 2016. The World Bank income categories of high, upper middle, low middle, and low were used as a guide to establish the 2016 International dues structure which represents three tiers:

  • Members from high- and upper-middle-income countries will pay $200 in annual dues—a $7 increase over the dues rate all International Fellows have been paying (application fee will be $100)
  • Low-middle-income countries will pay $100 in annual dues (application fee will be $50)
  • Low-income countries will pay $50 in annual dues (application fee will be $25)

Dues statements for International Fellows will go out in October 2015. The new application fees will go into effect on January 1, 2016.
