Surgeon Well-Being Coalition

The Surgeon Well-Being Coalition brings together surgical societies and organizations to promote and advocate for healthy, sustainable systems and practices that foster well-being in day-to-day life and beyond crisis management.

Goals

  • Share resources and best practices, learn about well-being initiatives, and leverage infrastructure and support to benefit the well-being of all surgeons.
  • Bring together all stakeholders to work together to support surgeon well-being.
  • Advocate for solutions that prioritize well-being and mental health.

Wellbeing First Champion Challenge

Led by the Lorna Breen Heroes’ Foundation, “The Wellbeing First Champion Challenge” program supports licensure boards, health systems, medical groups, health plans, and professional liability insurance companies in auditing and revising their licensing and credentialing applications to be free of intrusive mental health questions and stigmatizing language. Access the free toolkit to lead this in your community.

Grant Opportunities from the FIGS Awesome Humans Foundation

The FIGS Awesome Humans Foundation offers a growing range of grants and awards designed to support healthcare professionals and the organizations that serve them.

  • Rapid Relief for Awesome Humans: Year-round, flexible financial support for individuals in the US facing unexpected hardship.
  • Future Icons Grant: $10,000 scholarships for future healthcare leaders. Applications open December 2, 2025–February 28, 2026 (US residents or students).
  • Ubuntu Grant: Funding for mission-aligned nonprofits supporting healthcare professionals. Applications open July 1–August 31, 2026 (US and registered international nonprofits).
  • Healthcare is Human Award: Honoring healthcare professionals and students driving change through leadership and advocacy. Nominations open July 1–August 31, 2026 (US and international).
